You might find it as an excuse not to make a business plan because you do not have a business degree but don’t worry because as long as you know how to read, you can find ways on how to start a fitness program business plan. A business plan is necessary but unfortunately, a lot of people deem it to be useless or pointless. A lot of trainers develop a great set of skills when it comes to the physical and psychological aspect of being a personal trainer, but only a few realize the importance of developing a business plan. I’m not just saying that it is important because I’m a business graduate but because a business plan will serve as your guide to make the business profitable and successful and you’d also find out in the end that you are decreasing ugly risks. Not totally eliminating (there’s no such thing) but decreasing at least.

The first thing that you have to do on how to start a fitness program business plan is to know and understand its basic parts. Don’t worry because the business language is the easiest language to comprehend. It’s way easier than programming language, trust me!

Here are the basic parts of a fitness business plan:

-Executive Summary

-Company Description

-Industry Analysis

-Target Market and Competition

-Marketing Outline and Sales Strategy

-Operations

-Management and Organization

-Milestones and Exit Strategies

-Financial Data and Projections

There’s a lot of free information on how to start a fitness program business plan, you can also buy books that will detail the steps and explain each section of the plan. Make your executive summary straight-forward but catchy. This is one of the most important parts of the business plan because it includes everything in one or two pages. Don’t make a novel out of it, as the name indicates, it’s a summary. The company description should include your business’s name (of course) and what it is all about. The industry analysis is just the part where you describe which industry your product or service falls under. Target market will be your clientele and competition will be the companies that offer the same products/services. The marketing outline and sales strategy is supposed to outline or summarize your marketing plans. Remember that marketing does not only comprise promotion. Operations section will include equipment, customer service and other operational issues. Management and organization includes the people behind the business. The last two parts are supposed to give an idea how you will evaluate your business’s success and profitability.

The first step in starting your fitness bootcamp is to get a good fitness business plan. What's the saying? Fail to plan, plan to fail? Take the time to create your entire plan before you get your first client. This way, things will run more smoothly, and you will find your fitness business to be more profitable and much less stressful. Here are some tips that can help you out:

How to Get a Fitness Bootcamp Started

Fitness boot camps are growing in numbers and if you’ve been a trainer for a while and you want to have your own business, a boot camp is actually a great way to have fun and make money. The first thing that you have to do on how to get a bootcamp started is to analyze your skills and abilities… and get a fitness business plan. If you don’t think you have the skills to run a bootcamp then you’re better off hiring a certified trainer.

A boot camp (for the fitness business industry) is a type of physical training program organized by personal trainers. The training usually combines running, bodyweight exercises and competitive games. People’s main purpose of joining bootcamps is to lose weight. What’s the difference between a boot camp and a gym? One is the exercise routines are done outdoors and this is one attractive feature why people enroll in these types of classes.

Considering the time and venue is also a factor on how to get a ftiness bootcamp started. You can conduct the workout routines using public facilities like park and swimming pool but make sure you find out if there are any fees involved or if you have to get some permits. Yeah they are called public facilities but in some areas, you have to pay a certain amount to conduct exercise programs in a huge class. What about the schedule? Experts say that morning is the best time to exercise but you also have to consider your clients’ schedule. Talk to them about this and agree on one schedule.

Another thing on how to get a bootcamp started is your clientele. Do you have a target market in mind? Think about what your strengths are or where your expertise lies and go from there. If you’re good in training equally competitive people then you might want to target athletic individuals who have high level of fitness requirements. On the other hand, if you are good in motivating people without being too harsh on them, maybe you would like to handle people who want to lose weight. Once you are able to determine your target market, you will be off to a good start with your fitness business plan and you can then easily design your class with fitness bootcamp workout routines or fitness boot camp exercise games.

Over-view of the basic things you need to start your home fitness boot camp business. Making sure you plan your fitness business properly and don't jump in blindly will help ensure a successful boot camp business in the long run.

Fitness boot camps are often conducted and organized in parks using bodyweight exercises such as squats, suspension training and push ups combined with running or any other cardiovascular exercises and some competitive games. The purpose of a boot camp is to involve and teach the members to work at their own pace while they team up and work towards a common goal. I wouldn’t really be surprised if there will come a time when people will start going to boot camps instead of the gym. If you’re a trainer and your passion is to help and motivate people to get fit then a boot camp will be a great business for you. What is needed to start a fitness boot camp?

You need to be a certified fitness trainer before you can start a boot camp otherwise you need to hire one to manage the team. There’s no way that you can start a fitness boot camp if there’s no professional trainer to handle the class. It’s like starting a pharmacy without a registered pharmacist, if that makes any sense. Whichever area you live, this is a common mandatory requirement that you have to take care of. Also, your clients will be asking for some proof that you are indeed qualified to run a boot camp. When you have a certificate to show, we can assume that you have the skills and the expertise.

The next important thing on what is needed to start a fitness boot camp is insurance. Don’t forget to check with your insurance carrier what your policy states about your job as a fitness boot camp instructor. Go over the details of your policy and make sure that outdoor training is covered as well as the exercise routines you are performing. Insurance is also a way on how you can protect yourself from personal claims from your clients just in case they get injured while training. Always be cautious and keep an eye on your class. Knowing what the group is capable of will allow you to pattern the workout routines from there. Don’t expect them to be as agile as you are.

Business permit or license is also one of the crucial things on what is needed to start a fitness boot camp. It doesn’t matter how small your class is, you still need to get a permit. Find out about the rules and regulations in your area especially if you are going to use public facilities.

So you have finally decided that you want to run your own boot camp but the problem is you have no idea how to market a boot camp business. If you do not know anything about marketing stuff then this might sound so intimidating for you. I’m lucky because I have a Marketing degree but to make it simple for you, marketing a business or simply promoting it is very easy. You see promotional materials every single day and they come in various forms.

One way on how to market a boot camp business is by building a website. People nowadays use the internet to search about anything and everything so this is one great channel for people to find out about your business. This won’t be easy because if you do not know how to build and design your own site then you will need people doing this for you and it’s not cheap. You have to spend a good amount of money to have a rocking website but the benefits will definitely outweigh the cost.

If you can’t build a website because you cannot afford it yet, one cheap way on how to market a boot camp business is thru “Word of Mouth”. I personally think that this is one of the most effective promotional methods that has been tried and tested already. Tell your friend or your relative and then tell them to tell their friends and before you know it, you already built your clientele! There are a lot of social networking sites like myspace and facebook and you can search for people who live in the same area and invite them to join your group. This is free and yet very effective to get the word out.

If you have a little bit of money to spare then you can definitely invest on radio and print advertisements. Advertise thru your local paper or classified ads and your local radio station. This works effectively and it’s definitely worth your money. You can also pay for online classified ads if you want. Learn how to create your slogan or taglines or whatever it is that will make people get interested in your boot camp.

The term “boot camp” is often used in the fitness industry to refer to a fitness class that promotes fat loss, camaraderie and team effort. Some people just don’t like working out alone and they need somebody to push them a little bit to stay motivated. Boot camps are often organized outdoors like parks and public swimming pools. There are plenty of ways on how you can make every session fun and enjoyable like doing boot camp exercise games. It’s inevitable that people get easily bored and if you give them the same routine for the next few months, don’t expect them to stay loyal to you. You have to keep your clients interested and you always need to stir up their energy levels.

One of my favorite boot camp exercise games is the “Ups and Downs”. You need 20 cones spread out around the aerobics area. What you have to do is have 10 of the cones down on their side and the other 10 stand up. Group the class into two teams. The first team has to put all the cones in the upright position and then the other team has to put all the cones in the down position. Start the game along with music. Once the music stops, the game is over. Let the group play for a few rounds. The winning team should be the one that has the most cones in their direction once the music stops. It will be much easier though for the team knocking the cones down so you have to switch directions to be fair for both teams.

The “Story Teller” is also one of the most fun boot camp exercise games. This is very simple but very exhausting. Find a children’s book or basically a story that has a repetitive phrase. Have the group jog around the area in a circle as you read the story to them and when you read the repetitive phrase, the class stops running and should do a series of exercise to each word. For example:

Crock Pot= 10 squats

Dangerous= 10 jacks

Very Bad= 10 push ups

You can always change the locomotor skills like skipping, grapevines or galloping

If you want your clients to stay with you, you better not run out of bootcamp workout ideas. You have to be creative and think of some ways on how you can keep your group interested. Having fun while working out is the best thing you can ever offer. Fitness bootcamps are getting very popular because they are fun and they offer good workouts for the whole body. Aside from weight loss, the routines should also focus on increasing cardiovascular efficiency, strength and agility. Have you ever wondered why it’s called a bootcamp? Simply because it trains group of people and the routines are typically done outdoors.

There may be a lot of bootcamp workout ideas you can come across with but going a bit hardcore is probably one of the favorites. A friendly competition among members is a great way to workout. It can be so fun that they forget they are already exercising and burning off calories. This will make the whole workout routine more interesting. Don’t just focus on doing bench presses every week but rather challenge the team to a push-up face off. Whoever loses will buy the winner a protein drink in the sports bar. Prices are not mandatory but this will help your team get more motivated. Be very careful though because there are some people who take competition pretty seriously. Learn how to balance everything and keep it fun.

Do you think the group will enjoy dancing? Believe it or not, some of the more active forms of dancing can burn over 500 calories an hour. No wonder the “Dancing with the Stars” contestants stay slender. This is just one of the fun bootcamp workout ideas you can incorporate in your program. You can maybe do this every other week to break the boredom. This is also a good way to showcase everyone’s hidden talent. Dancing can also be an alternative to a cardio session.

Variety is the key to every successful fitness bootcamp, if you want your clients to stay loyal then you have to keep them interested. Give them something to look forward to for every workout session.
